About Me

My husband, Doug, and I have been residents of the Blue Mounds & Mt Horeb communities since 2005. We have two kids that have grown up in the school district, the oldest currently in 10th grade and the youngest in 8th grade.

I grew up in a small, rural community in Maryland - very similar in many ways to the Mount Horeb community - where I was a theater kid with dreams of becoming either a performer or a history teacher. When I look back, I realize that both of those interests stemmed from passionate and engaging teachers.

I have a BA in History from St. Mary's College of Maryland and a Master of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University. In the early part of my career, I worked in the development office of The Walters Art Museum and then as a major gift fundraiser first for Johns Hopkins and then for Beloit College. I moved to Epic in 2003 and have spent the last 18 years in the accounting and pricing departments. Today, my primary responsibility at Epic is to supervise a team of budget advisors to ensure that our staff successfully manage their project budgets of amounts from $1M - $100M. A skill that's directly applicable to good school governance.

I am passionate and optimistic about our kids' futures and believe that our school district already has so much going for it - high quality teachers, new facilities in the high school, an engaged community, and a solid financial position. We, of course, will face challenging times, but I believe there is also tremendous opportunity in that that we have to take advantage of. I've got a unique combination of skills and experiences to help meet these challenges head-on with energy, optimism, a new perspective, and creativity. I look forward to getting to work.
